Laboratory
The 66th Medical Squadron Laboratory provides most general services. Patients may arrive at the lab Monday - Friday, 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., for walk-in blood draw and specimen drop off.
The laboratory staff does not provide results directly to patients. Please contact your provider to discuss results. Your results can be viewed on the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal; for a physical copy please contact outpatient records.
Important Time Considerations
Fasting bloodwork patients are only seen 7:30 - 10 a.m.
Patients with tests for vitamin and hormone levels, including testosterone and cortisol levels, should come to the laboratory before 10 a.m.
Blood requests from network providers: Patients with lab orders from a network provider are accepted only after discussion with the laboratory staff. The lab script must be delivered or faxed to the lab at least 24 hours before having blood drawn.
Fasting bloodwork instructions: Not all blood tests require fasting. Patients instructed to fast must not eat or drink for 8-10 hours before their lab appointment. Patients may drink water, tea, or black coffee (no sugar, no milk) and may still take any necessary medications. Patients fasting more than 12 hours will not have blood drawn.
Over-the-counter vitamins: OTC vitamins with high doses of biotin will interfere with some routine laboratory tests. Please discontinue OTC vitamins, such as biotin and hair, skin and nail supplements for 48 hours before blood draws.
Presence and supervision of children during patient care: Only the patient will be allowed into the laboratory draw room. Any children accompanying the patient must be in a stroller or car seat, or old enough to wait in the lobby. Please do not bring children in to laboratory appointments unless the child is the patient.
